Bird Flutes

The bird flutes are open ended at the mouth piece which is very comfortable to play, it also helps to control moisture build up, they are a very easy flute to play. Pressed against the lips to make a seal, air is introduced through pursed lips, offering complete control of the airflow.

Available in a variety of woods and keys D up to G. Prices start at £125.00 including Postage and packaging.

Drone Flutes

This flute has two sound chambers side by side, one is tuned traditionally and plays the melody while the drone chamber is tuned to the fundamental root note of the flute. It can be played solo or as a drone when both are played together to create beautiful harmonies.                                                                           Available in all keys, these flutes are very hypnotic and meditative to play.

Prices from £265.00 including Postage and packaging.

Deluxe flutes

Simple flutes are very beautiful but I like to take extra time when working with some flutes to add a little more magic. I inlay with Paua shell or Abalone and add crushed Turquoise. Individually carved tone blocks with animal totems and inlay offer a special touch to these flutes.

Prices from £295.00 including Postage and packaging.

About Wildwood Loveflute

Streamline flutes

The Native American style flutes that I now make are a personal development of this magical instrument. Each flute is lovingly hand crafted to provide you with  an instrument that sings with a voice as beautiful as the wild wood it is made from.

Drone flutes

I use a wide variety of tone woods that I know through experience  will produce a sweet tone and perform well. I prefer to work with English timbers but also like to work with some imported timbers famed for their tone such as Cedar, Walnut and Maple.

Bird flutes

My favourite English woods to work with are Oak, Rowan, Alder, Elm and Willow. These all produce a beautiful tone and have their own unique character. I also use Ebony, Rosewood and Mahogany when available, this is usually vintage or recycled stock.

History of the flute

Along with the drum, voice and rattle, the native American flute is one of the earliest instruments known. Its enchanting, dulcet tones are sweet and melodious. It is hard not be moved by its provocative, ancient sound.

Modern flutes

The modern flute has evolved over the centuries into a more easily accepted musical instrument.     Still tuned to the pentatonic minor scale as all early flutes were they still call with the same ancient voice.

The legend

"Early settlers heard the sound of the flute drifting over the plains at night as the young braves would serenade their sweethearts" is where the name 'loveflute' originates, they are still used for healing, prayer, bird call and courtship.

Available flutes

I exhibit across the UK throughout the year at festivals & fayres and always have flutes in stock, I make flutes to order if not in stock and can customise to fit your needs. All flutes are supplied with a fleece  case and simple playing guide.

Available timbers

I keep many timbers in stock such as Oak, Walnut, Cedar, Maple, Cherry, Alder & Rowan, other rare, exotic timbers - Mahogany,  Rosewood, Ebony are sometimes difficult to source but are generally available.

Postage & payment

I use Royal mail registered next- day delivery and dispatch as soon as payment is received, all major credit/debit cards except AMEX, PayPal or Bank transfer are all accepted.  Import charges now apply to overseas orders.
